About Us

Avid cyclist, freestyle dancer, & dj/musician Don Solo started 4StarTees (4ST) in 2008, after years of designing t-shirts to sell out of his college dorm, & then on the streets of Chicago. T-shirts had always been a means of passionate expression, human connection, & community-building for Don, even amongst complete strangers. 4ST's intention was to celebrate all the great things about Chicago (hence the reference to its flag), but from the perspective of a local, rather than the tourist. But, after 10+ years working in the service-hospitality industry, Don felt it was time to move to the warmer climes of Tampa Bay, Florida in 2019, to pursue his interests in fitness & dance year-round. It is here, while surf-skating, virtual-clubbing, & discussing geometric art in lockdown with his housemates, that the Flow State idea & design were born. Being in the 'Flow State' (a term coined by psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi that Don studied in college), means being 'in the zone' or 'in the flow', often in whatever it is you LOVE to do. It doesn't matter if you are an artist, yogi, athlete, code-warrior, entrepreneur, or front-line worker (bless you all). Flow State is MORE than a lifestyle, job title, or income bracket. It's a UNIVERSAL State of Mind, that benefits us individually & collectively. Follow YOUR FLOW, & there you will find YOUR HAPPINESS.
