Q: What is Flow State?
A: Flow State is the scientific term coined by positive psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi in 1975 to represent the optimal mental state of complete absorption 'in the zone' or ''flowing", often in whatever activity it is you LOVE to do. So much so, that research subjects lost all track of time, hunger, & needing sleep! Most importantly though, his research demonstrated that a person's happiness in life measurably correlates with flow states, rather than income level. Csikszentmihalyi is still teaching, and his bestselling book 'Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience' is still fundamental to any research on human behavior.
Q: What is the Flow State shape/symbol?
A: It is a modified Icosahedron. An Icosahedron is a 20-sided geometric shape consisting of adjoined equilateral triangles. It is one of the five basic Platonic solids, used to represent the element of water in science. And water, in addition to being the source of all life, is the only element that flows.
The 20 sides also represent to us the multi-faceted dimensions of each & every human being, with unique, diverse talents meant to be actualized while on this planet. The Icosa design for Flow State has an open center triangle to represent the holistic trifecta of mind, body, & soul, that is positively tied to flow.
Q: What is 4StarTees?
A: 4StarTees.com was started as a t-shirt brand in Chicago, but now has become the distribution company & website for the Flow State brand, as well as other up & coming artists & designers from Chicago, Tampa Bay, & all over the galaxy.
Q: Why Only 4 Stars & not 5?
A: The official Chicago flag is comprised of four, red, six-pointed stars that represent major historical events for the City. You will be spotted as a legit Chicagoan wherever you are in the world.
Q: How much do you charge for shipping?
A: Within the United States, it costs $3.99 for the 1st shirt. Each additional shirt is $2.99 no limit. For Canada, it costs $16.99 for 1 or 2 shirts. Rest of the world costs $23.99 for 1 or 2 shirts. More than 2 shirts outside the U.S., please contact us first. These rates are what the U.S. Postal Service really charges us - if you can find us a more economical way of shipping our shirts overseas, PLEASE let us know!
Q: What is your return policy?
A: We have repeatedly tested & stand by all our apparel. We want you to be comfortable & in the flow when you wear our products. If you're not happy, we're not happy, & we will gladly accept your (unworn, unwashed) return within 30 days for a full refund (minus shipping costs). We GUARANTEE our tees to last you for TEN FULL YEARS (under reasonable usage & wear) or we will replace it FREE of charge! Sound like a deal? But please contact us first for return instructions.
Q: Do you do custom designs?
A: Not usually, but we are open to new ideas & suggestions. We can also customize colors & placements of any of our current designs to your preference.
Q: Are you hiring? Or need more artists and designs?
A: We are not hiring at this time, but are looking for professional partnerships or collaborations. We are also looking for enthusiastic brand ambassadors & interns. Both offer revenue-sharing as compensation.

A: Big Cartel is a web hosting site (sorta like Etsy) that provides storefronts for any artists and entrepreneurs to sell their creations.
